To complete your Dockside Safety Checklist before arriving, please log in or create an account through Virginia DWR.
Once logged in, verify your information and click “Make a Purchase” in the upper left corner of the screen. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section and add the free Rental Boat/PWC – Dockside Safety Checklist to your cart. Select your start date, keeping in mind that the permit is valid for 10 days only. After proceeding to your cart, you will be prompted to watch the required 17-minute, 36-second safety video. Please note that the video must be watched in its entirety and cannot be skipped. Once completed, scroll down to confirm the affirmations and enter your name where prompted. Next, enter the marina name, phone number, and address provided in your booking email. Review your information carefully, then submit and confirm your application.
After submission, proceed to checkout by confirming the affirmation boxes and selecting “Process Order.” You will then be directed to a Transaction Confirmation page where you can print or download your permit. A copy will also be sent to your email address.
Please bring a printed or digital copy of your permit with you to the office at boat check-in. Any person listed on the rental agreement as an operator must also be present at check-in and provide either their Dockside Safety Checklist permit or a valid boating license.
